Recycle tips

  • When in doubt — leave it out!
  • Use separate bins for paper, plastic, metal, and aluminum cans OR put multiple items in one bin and use bags to separate them
  • Break down cardboard and store in a larger cardboard box. Large box and contents can be recycled together
  • Plastic shopping bags can be recycled at most stores – better yet, use a reusable bag
  • Keep a space on your counter so you can recycle as you are cooking or cleaning. It will be easier to put the recyclables in their proper place when you are finished
  • For items like cans or bottles that may not need dropped off as often, rinse them out — this prevents odor in your home
*note – rinsing is not required to recycle, just recommended
