- To identify latex paint – read the instructions on the container
- Brushes used to apply latex paint can be cleaned using soap and water
- Method 1 –
If there is a decent amount of paint remaining, check with local charities that accept paint donations for work projects
- Method 2 –
1. Remove the lid from paint container
2. Add sand or clay-based cat litter to the paint until there are equal parts of absorbent and paint – stir until well mixed
3. Place the uncovered container in a well-ventilated area until the mixture has hardened
4. Dispose of the uncovered container with the regular household trash
- Method 3 –
1. Brush remaining paint onto cardboard pieces
2. Leave lid off of container to dry it out
3. Once container and cardboard are dry, they can be placed into regular household trash
NOTE: Non-latex paints should be disposed of on Household Hazardous Waste Days. They should NOT be attempted to dry out or placed in regular trash.
